Department of Chemistry
The Dept. of Chemistry of Nabadwip Vidyasagar College started its journey as Honours course in 1984. Since then keeping pace with the gradual up-gradation of curriculum the department has achieved many notable developments in infrastructure and teaching-learning methodologies which has paved its path to the betterment of academic excellence. The dept possesses two well equipped analytical laboratories, one instrumental laboratory and also a small research laboratory for research facility of the faculties. It maintains a well organized library to cater to the academic needs of the students. They have the opportunity for using computer facility with internet according to their requirements. Students with good academic results are admitted to the UG course. Our teachers are always ready to serve their best for developing academic standards of the students through class-room interactions, viva voce, class tests, remedial classes, seminars, Wall magazine etc. They are encouraged in participating in-house as well as State level, National level seminar, workshop etc. Sometimes for comprehensive teaching the audio-visual techniques are adopted with the help of digital projector in smart class room of the college. Counselling sessions and patent teacher meetings are held at frequent intervals. As a result, not only the numbers of students securing good marks in B.Sc. are increasing but also that admitted to post graduate classes are becoming appreciable. Many ex-students of this department are placed in commendable positions in both academic and industrial area or engaged in research works in renowned Institutes (e.g. IIT ) and Universities . Our technical staffs are very supportive and helpful. Excursions are also arranged for the students once in a year. In a word the department offers a healthy environment which helps to flourish both in personal as well as in professional life

The Department is well equipped with modern sophisticated instruments facilities such as VIS spectrophotometer, Digital balance, Water distillation plant, Refractometer , Mechanical shaker etc.All instruments and other specialized apparatus are readily available for student use both in scheduled lab work and for their project work. Besides central library books , Departmental library Books are also available for our students. The Department welcomes any type of positive enquiries from students, either by mail or in person.
