Message from the Principal’s Desk
At the outset I welcome all the teachers, teaching assistants and students at large of our beloved temple of education. Nabadwip Vidyasagar College began its journey on 5th March, 1942. Once upon a time, Nabadwip was called “Oxford of Bengal”. The history of college is replete with rich history and culture. With the passage of time, it has been reaching at the pinnacles of success from various corners.
We get elated when our college is declared as ‘Model College” by RUSA. It is the only college in Nadia district which has acquired such a status of ‘Model College’. It is not a windfall. It has been possible through our strenuous and tireless efforts. Our dedicated teachers, loyal and committed teaching assistants and disciplined students are the real claimants of such a Himalayan achievement.
From the dawn to dusk, all the stakeholders of the college think for the betterment of the college, want to elevate the status of the college, strive to create an ambience of peaceful academic environment and desire to build a harmonious relation among the teachers, the taught and the teaching assistants. The result is: our college has been reaccredited by NAAC and has obtained grade “B” in the 2nd cycle.
Located in the heart of the Nabadwip Town. So the college is the cynosure of all eyes. Thousands of students hailing from Nabadwip and its surrounding areas prefer our college to other colleges for different reasons. This college not only imparts quality education to the students but makes them a ‘good citizen’/’enlightened citizen’ of our country. They are youth and founder of the nation. Education is the key factor that shapes the budding youth. They should develop multidimensional personality. Our mission is to transform students into law abiding citizens, dedicated and committed soldiers, rational thinkers, and spiritually enlightened individuals. Persons having will for hard work, dedication, commitment, punctuality, & discipline towards the organization, and determination to reach the goal may be deemed to be a precious asset of any organization. We believe, ours have such traits/attributes and we can also play a pioneering role in augmenting the reputation of our college.
Team ‘Nabadwip Vidyasagar College (NVC)’ encompasses teachers, non-teaching staff along with casual office staff and students. This apart, alumni association helps a lot in different ways. Our college is a reservoir of talented, dedicated, committed and loyal teachers and teaching assistants. They can see dream and they know how to materialize the dream. Sense of discipline, perseverance, sincerity, punctuality, commitment, dedication, and loyalty of our skilled human resources towards the college needs no description. No denying the fact that the dream comes true when three pillars (Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Students) work in unison. They are inevitable, and indispensible. The all-out efforts of Team NVC must enhance name and fame of our beloved college throughout India.
Our college has more than 6000 students, a robust library having more than 35000 text books, 4500 reference books, printed journals, e-journals, e-books and many more. Students aspiring higher studies through distant mode (DODL) are getting this opportunity. More than 16 honours courses are taught in addition to programme course. One regular P.G. Course in Sanskrit is already being run in our college.
N.C.C. and N.S.S. are also two important feathers of our college. The activities of the members attached to N.C.C. & N.S.S. throughout the year demand kudos. These two units help the students make a good, disciplined, dedicated and committed citizen.
So my request to the students: Be regular in the classes, Be tolerant, Respect your teachers and Teaching Assistants, and also Be a good citizen of our nation. Always try to augment the reputation of your college. Remember, any achievement of our college, any recognition from any corner touches our emotion. We, all, feel happy and contented for any achievement in any form coming from Teachers/Teaching Assistants/Students.
